Thrills and Chills with Two Portland Authors In-Person
Thrills and Chills
With two local authors
Join Portland authors Mary Maki and Sharon Dukett as they discuss their books and the process for researching and writing them.
Sharon Dukett is the author of The Shutdown List, a new thriller released on June 18, 2024. Her memoir No Rules: A Memoir won the Next Generation Indie Book Awards in Memoirs (Historical/Legacy) and was a finalist for several others. The producer of the upcoming documentary film about the Watkins Glen Summer Jam held in 1973 read the memoir, then interviewed Sharon for the film because of her vivid portrayal of the era.
Sharon is a member of Sisters in Crime, International Thriller Writers, and Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association. She worked in information technology as a consultant, programmer and project manager in the private sector, and a deputy director in government. She lives in Portland, Connecticut with her husband, near her children and grandchildren. She is currently working on another thriller.
Mary E. Maki is the author of the four Caitlyn Jamison mystery series books. She is working on her fifth book, Glenside, A novel of suspense whose main characters were developed by the patrons of two rural Upstate New York libraries following Mary’s author presentation.
Mary is a member of Sisters in Crime and continues to facilitate, via Google Meet, the Fiction Critique Writing group out of the Central Rappahannock Regional Library in Fredericksburg, VA. While living in Ithaca, New York, she worked in the office of Dr. Carl Sagan and then secretary to the President of Ithaca College. She volunteers her transcription skills by transcribing Portland’s 2024 Black History Month panel discussion. She has volunteered to do the same for the 2025 Black History Month events.
