Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certification training

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certification training In-Person

Free Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certification training by Gilead Community Services.

Registration is required by 9/12 in order to participate:  https://gileadcs.org/programs-services/mental-health-first-aid/register-for-a-mhfa-training/

This course consists of two 4-hour sessions:

  • Part 1 is on Thursday Sept 25 from 12:30 – 4:30 p.m.
  • Part 2 is on Friday Sept 26 from 12:30 – 4:30 p.m.

MHFA training is a program that teaches people without a clinical background how to recognize, assess, and assist someone experiencing a mental health challenge.  Like CPR training for non-medical professionals, MHFA prepares participants to engage with an individual experiencing a challenge and connect them with appropriate help. First Aiders do not diagnose or provide counseling or therapy; instead, they are provided with practical tools and answers to common questions, like “What do I do?” and “Where can someone find help?” You can learn more   https://www.mentalhealthfirstaid.org/

About a week before the classes you will receive an email inviting you to sign up for an account with MHFA to complete the (roughly 30 minutes of) precourse work. After the two classes you will log back in to the MFHA site to take the hour long certification test.
